Saida is
18 years old. Before she took up a teaching post at one of the 30 Children on
the Edge refugee camp schools in Bangladesh, she had no livelihood and little
standing in the community. Since starting with them she has received regular
teacher training and is now starting to train other women too. Her standing in
the community is increased and her voice is respected in her family. She is now
listened to in making decisions about her children and has her own income.
This is the case for around 30 teachers who
have joined this teaching programme in the camps.
