This is Francis. He is 7
years old and he lives with his Grandmother in Soweto slum, Uganda. His parents
abandoned him when his was four after a failed attempt at selling him for child
sacrifice.
When he started coming to
the Child Friendly Space run by Children on the Edge, Francis was very weak and
was way too small for his age. He couldn’t talk or play and he got into many
fights.
The teachers and social
workers on the project have spent time with him over the months and he now
plays happily with the other children, he is safe, he has gained weight and
participates well in class.
It costs just £42 to feed a child
a lunch and breakfast daily for a year.
