An unexpected visitor

We had an unexpected visitor coming to lunch with us today! He poured orange juice down his jumper so had to dine in the nude.

McLaggan Smith collaboration

We'll try and be creative and take some life style pics over lunch time, until then - here are the new McLaggan Smith cups we did!

Art Deco ISAK

Colin & Jools are busy restoring their 1935 Art Deco house in Leeds. The Penguin wall paper was a perfect match to give the rooms a modernist twist. Thanks for the images... and good luck with the restoration!
The Penguin wallpaper was also spotted in the PETA Head Office in Finland... Thanks Saia!

Old Birds

Found this when looking through some old files. It's the first rough for our first counting poster back in 2006. It looks like something that's been sitting on a fridge for many years, sun bleached and loved... Like it!

We left San Cristobal de las Casas, south on the Yucatan peninsula, early this morning only to be trapped by a protest blockade 3 hours later. All roads in the county had been blocked off in protest to the government. We managed to make it back to San Christobal through dirt tracks after paying 20 pesos to  some villagers who decided to take advantage of the situation. Back in San Christobal we couldn't get back out. 6 hours in the car - a whole day wasted  and still 1300 km to travel tomorrow... On the good side, we did find some very fine coffee beans this afternoon. :)

The first coffee bean!

After driving a whole day across Guatemala and then crossing a lake surrounded by volcanoes in an old plastic boat - we finally got to lay our eyes on the first coffee beans. This is how they look! We'll keep you posted on more!

FIka cups!

This is a great blog, thanks for e-mailing us about it!

Featured on SwissMiss!

Well  done Sandra from Loja de Estar! We ove SwissMiss and this looks great!

Almost back on route

Not so many coffee beans in sight yet but we made it across the Belize border in to Guatemala and the amazing Mayan temples in the middle of the jungles at Tikal. Admittedly coffee wasn't on our minds this morning at 6 am standing  right here listening to the jaguars roaring in the back ground and watching spider monkeys swinging through the trees.

The coffee trail

Hello! First post on the coffee hunt. Five days in and we're been tempted slightly off track but who can blame us - we were just passing Belize and thought that while we're here... it would be a good idea to check out the atolls and the reefs. The Guatemalan coffee tasting has to wait just a few more days because today we're swimming with sharks and sea turtles.

We set out in Mexico to check out some cotton and sample some mole. The best mole, both a green one and a red one, we had was in Tulum, in the smallest and dirtiest street stall anyone has never seen. !Delicioso! Montezuma was kind that day, lucky for us! The drive down to Belize was interesting, the border crossing slightly intimidating. We stopped to climb some mayan runins and to say hello to the noisy howler monkeys then drove through a vast Amish settlement in the middle of nowhere.
We'll keep you posted, when electricity permits!

Sandra Isaksson, a Swedish graphic designer based in West Sussex, produces ferociously funky printed wallpapers, trays and posters under the company name Isak. She says of her new Fika cup: “Fika means to sit down and have a cuppa, relax, eat some cookies. This is always done at 11 in the morning in Sweden. Then again at 3pm, then again after dinner.” This I’m inclined to believe, but her explanations can be, let us say, folkloric. Isaksson confides of one of her bestsellers, the birchwood-ply Blossom and Bill tray (38cm diameter, £25; “It is handmade in Sweden by trolls.”

What?! They are all handmade by trolls!

WALLPAPER Sandra Isaksson’s brand stands out for its quirky penguin and owl prints. A family of owls, perched on branches on a turquoise sky background, can be custom designed so that the branches extend around your child’s room (£30 per square metre; 01903 885380,
